WHAT'S IN A NAME
THE CHASSM
Catalyst - Houston Area School of Supernatural Ministry
The word Catalyst means to be an agent that initiates and/or accelerates a reaction without itself being affected, and the word CHASSM is a homophone to the word Chasm which is a word that describes a profound difference between people, viewpoints, feelings, etc.
We chose this name because it reveals a great truth about this organization’s purpose -- to be the catalyst of change in today’s culture. In a broken world, the people of the CHASSM choose to be the accelerating agent that sets the world on fire through the supernatural works of God. Although profoundly different from those who are lost, the CHASSM’s hope is that through empowering and launching its students into the surrounding cultures, they would captivate the hearts and lives of every person, leading them to search out the bridge to the chasm which is Christ our Savior.
WHAT ARE WE ABOUT?
Culture
Our students learn how to live a supernatural life overflowing with joy, passion, love, honor, purity, vulnerability, and community. They will be able to fully understand what it means to live a life of freedom while also recognizing their responsibility to steward the kingdom of God within them and around them.
Worship
Psalms 22:3 says "He inhabits the praises of his people." The entire atmosphere of the school is centered on worship. It is a key component to every classroom setting because our genuine worship ushers in the presence of God; therefore, we will begin every class with worship. Passion and love of the presence of God are center stage.
Lifestyle
The CHASSM is not designed to correct behaviors or to be a form of rehab from lifestyle sins. This course is designed to give you freedom to discover for yourself the great delight that comes in living a catalyst lifestyle.
The Supernatural
Mark 16:17-19 tells us that signs and wonders accompany those who believe. Walking in the supernatural is a byproduct of a catalyst lifestyle and a heart positioned in worship. Our great joy is helping our students realize that for themselves and watching them walk in it.
Kingdom Advancement
Jesus said "your kingdom come on earth as it is in heaven;" thus, we teach and encourage all of our students that the supernatural doesn't just happen in our classroom -- its purpose is to advance the kingdom into every area they influence.
Risk Taking
We partner academic studies with hands-on training which create a "teach and do" culture where students are more willing to take risks and stretch their faith and grow in their understanding of God.
ENVIRONMENTS
There are three main environments we provide and cultivate at The CHASSM.
First, a worship environment. Everything begins with worship.
Second, a learning environment. This environment is less about knowledge and more about imparting.
Third, a group environment. This is where we are able to practice what we have been taught and to encourage one another as we grow together.
SPEAKERS & TEACHERS
Although there will be some guest speakers and teachings done by video, the majority of teaching will be done by the mothers and fathers of our organization. We find ourselves very blessed to have someone from every area of the five-fold represented in our leadership team who are eager to impart to our students the unique anointing and truth that they carry.
